Cumberland County Family Court, in partnership with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, Fayetteville Police Department, Rape Crisis of Cumberland County, the CARE Center Family Violence Program, Legal Aid of North Carolina, SafeLink and Army Community Services wish to remind the public of Domestic Violence Awareness, observed through the month of October.

Due to COVID-19 pandemic concerns, the annual “Remember My Name” vigil to remember victims and raise awareness of domestic violence was cancelled. Alternative observations are going on through October.

The Judge E. Maurice Braswell Cumberland County Courthouse is being illuminated with purple lights through the month of October. Displays have been placed on the first floor and lower levels of the Judge E. Maurice Braswell Cumberland County Courthouse with information about resources available to help victims of domestic violence. Agencies have placed silhouettes in common areas in memory of domestic violence victims in Cumberland County.
