Cumberland County Sheriff's Wait Tables to Benefit the Special Olympics
Fundraising efforts took place on Saturday for the Law Enforcement Torch Run.
Saturday, eight deputies from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office traded in their handcuffs to spend the day at Red Robin serving the Fayetteville community to raise funds for the Law Enforcement Torch Run.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run is the largest year-round grassroots fundraising vehicle for the Special Olympics. The Torch Run consists of law enforcement officers throughout North Carolina waiting on tables at various Red Robin locations from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. Each Red Robin patron has the chance to leave a “special tip” for the law enforcement officers serving them. One hundred percent of the tips made to the officers are tax-deductible donations and will benefit the Special Olympics North Carolina. Last year, North Carolina raised $976,000.00.
Cumberland County deputies focused their efforts at the Red Robin by Cross Creek Mall. This year, Cumberland County aimed to raise $1,000.
