Free Oral Health Screenings

The Fayetteville Sam’s Club will host free oral health screenings on Saturday, April 13, from 11 a.m. until 3
p.m.

Those suffering from serious gum disease are 40 percent
more likely to have another chronic condition, as recent studies associate oral health issues as identifiers of both diabetes and heart disease.

  • Cardiovascular disease causes almost 30% of all deaths in North Carolina (NC Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention Program)

  • Heart disease is the No. 2 killer statewide, and stroke the No. 4 killer (American Heart Association)

The screenings are free and open to the public, so members and guests can attend. The free health screening event features tests valued at
up to $100.

This special screening includes:

  • Non-invasive oral health questionnaires that will help certified dental hygiene students provided by Colgate and certified technicians from Carmen Ingle & Associates offer counsel and oral health tips

  • Dental tablets, which contain a harmless colored dye that is attracted to plaque on teeth

And also available at this time are screenings for glucose, total cholesterol, blood pressure, body mass index (BMI), and vision.
