Parade of Homes - Call for Art

Eligibility: Open to all artists 18 years of age and older residing in the counties where the Parade of Homes is held: Cumberland, Harnett or Hoke counties, Fort Bragg and Pope Air Force Base. 

Artist may submit a maximum of three, 2-dimensional original works of art. The works should reflect the spirit of the Parade of Homes. A house must be included in the works of art. Art work accepted: oil, watercolor, acrylics, pastels, and mixed media. Art must be on canvas or paper.

Entry Fee: $20 first entry ($15 for Arts Council members), $30 for 2-3 entries ($25 for Arts Council members). Entry fees are nonrefundable. 

Awards: $2,000 first place, $1,000 second place and $500 third place will be awarded by the Home Builders Association of Fayetteville (HBAF). First place art will be used on promotional materials for the 2011 Parade of Homes to include the cover of 70,000 tour guide magazines and featuring the winning artist’s biography. (HBAF will issue all winners a 1099). 

Juried Selection Process: Representatives from the arts community and from the HBAF will make the selection for first, second and third places. 

Insurance: All work is insured while at the Arts Council. 

Timeline of Competition: Hand deliver works of art with entry fee to the Arts Council building, 301 Hay Street from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, July 14; 9:00 a.m. to Noon on Friday, July 15 and Noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2011.

Exhibit will open at 7 p.m. on Fourth Friday, July 22. Winners will be announced at 8 pm. Works will remain on display through August 20. Art must be picked up between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday – Tuesday, Aug. 22-23. Any artwork not picked up by Sept. 19 will be considered abandoned by the artist and disposed of by the Arts Council without recourse to the artist. 

Rights and Conditions: The artist grants the HBAF permission to photograph/videotape any works accepted for the competition for archival, publication and publicity purposes. First place work of art becomes the property of the HBAF, including reproduction rights. Participation in this competition process constitutes an understanding and acceptance of the conditions set forth in this prospectus. 

Sales are encouraged: The Arts Council will retain 30% commission from the amount you list on your entry form. Items not for sale must be marked NFS (Not For Sale); however, an insurance value will be required on the entry form.

About the HBAF and the Parade of Homes: The Parade of Homes is produced by the Home Builders Association of Fayetteville and focuses on new construction and the premise that home ownership adds strength to the community, improves the quality of life, and increases the sense of pride within a family. The Parade of Homes encourages participants to find their dream home that suits their personal lifestyle and allows participants to view a cross section of new homes available in our market. Both the HBAF and the Parade of Homes have a long and rich history: this will be the 49th annual Parade of Homes and the 49th anniversary of the charter of the HBA of Fayetteville.
