Fayetteville Man Also Charged in Virginia with Child Sex Crimes

Virginia man held in Cumberland County on multi-million dollar bond and additional charges.

Early in May, Brent Ashley McKinney was arrested in Cumberland County and charged with sex crimes against a 12-year old Fayetteville girl dating back to between 2004 and 2005.

McKinney, wanted for additional charges, has been extradited to North Carolina and is being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center under a 2.35 million dollar bond according the the Debbie Tanna, a spokeswoman for the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office.

42-year old McKinney, of 1018 Ridgeway Drive, Christiansburg, Virginia was arrested earlier this month and charged. The encounters occurred between September, 2004 and July, 2005 in Cumberland County.

McKinney now faces 14 additional sex crimes charges that involved a second child in Cumberland County.  Those encounters allegedly occurred between 2002 and 2005.

McKinney is scheduled for a first court appearance 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 in the Detention Center Courtroom.

In addition, McKinney is facing similar charges in the state of Virginia and is being investigated by other law enforcement agencies in North Carolina.
