Fayetteville, N.C. Kangaroo Express Stores Continue to See New Offerings

Eight new stores to receive updated Bean Street Coffee offers, new fresh food items; month-long celebration includes $3,750 in check donations to local charities

CARY, N.C., (Jan. 10, 2014) – Kangaroo Express, the leading independently operated convenience store chain in the southeastern United States, operated by The Pantry, Inc. (Nasdaq: PTRY), today announced a new batch of stores in the Fayetteville, N.C., area were remodeled to feature new store offerings and upgraded appearances as part of the “New at the Roo” program, including upgraded Bean Street Coffee offers and a broader assortment of fresh foods.

Currently in the fifth round of investments to Fayetteville-area stores, eight new Kangaroo Express stores now include upgrades as part of the program, adding to the 35 stores refreshed over the past several months.

To celebrate its investment in the local Fayetteville community, the most recently upgraded Kangaroo Express stores will be celebrating with special offers, fun family activities, and a total of $3,750 in donations to local charities including Friends of Children and Habitat for Humanity of the North Carolina Sandhills. A total of more than $25,000 in donations has been made to local Fayetteville-area organizations in celebration of the store investments.

Guests who visit Kangaroo Express stores enjoy a fast, friendly and clean store environment. As part of the “New at the Roo” program, participating stores feature upgraded Bean Street Coffee dispensers, designed to preserve the freshness of the coffee. The spacious serving stations have upgraded coffee accessories including a wide variety of coffee flavors and additions such as extra boosts of caffeine and whipped topping, allowing guests to customize their cup of Bean Street Coffee.

“With investments now made in more than 40 stores in Fayetteville, it’s clear that Kangaroo Express is committed to a great shopping experience for our guests,” said Melody Haney, region director at Kangaroo Express. “We invite the community to join us for fun family events as we celebrate with donations to local organizations such as Friends of Children and experience what’s new at The Roo to better serve the on-the-go needs of our Fayetteville guests.”

In addition to improved Bean Street Coffee, guests at participating stores will be able to enjoy newly offered iced tea and a broader assortment of fresh pastries for on-the-go breakfast and snacks. The new bakery case features glazed donuts, which are almost 40 percent larger than well-known brands, donut-holes, muffins, cheese danishes and more.

Guests can take advantage of month-long specials and promotions, including free coffee every Friday in January from 6-9 a.m. at recently remodeled stores and coupons valid at select Kangaroo Express locations across the Fayetteville area.

Celebration events will also be held at select Kangaroo Express stores during the month of January, featuring fun family activities, giveaways and 25-cent hot dogs.

The Kangaroo Express store at 5201 Raeford Road in Fayetteville will celebrate what’s “New at the Roo” on Friday, Jan. 10 from 5-7 p.m. with 25-cent hot dogs and a $1,250 check presentation to Habitat for Humanity of the North Carolina Sandhills. Donated funds will be used to help complete construction of the Midway Gardens community, a diverse neighborhood of 21 homes representing multicultural families throughout Moore County.

Celebrations continue on Friday, Jan. 17 from 3-5 p.m. at the 3122 Ft. Bragg Road Kangaroo Express in Fayetteville with a $1,250 check presentation to Friends of Children, helping to provide Cape Fear Valley Health with quality and compassionate medical care for the youngest and most vulnerable patients. The event will include giveaways, family fun and 25-cent hot dogs.

The renovations to these stores are prime examples of the investments Kangaroo Express is making in its communities across the southeastern United States, including plans to open more quick-serve restaurants in stores and remodel more than 150 stores.
