UPDATE: Man Identified in Tuesday's Early Morning Shooting
The names of the Fayetteville, N.C., police officers involved in the shooting have been released.

Late Tuesday evening the Fayetteville, N.C., police identified the man who was shot and killed in the altercation they responded to around 3 a.m. that day near Murchison Rd. and Blan St.
Roman Lee Drake, age 26, of 1500 Blan St. was fatally shot in an attempt to drive away as he ran over one patrol car and attempted to run over one of the officers, according to a police report.
The two Fayetteville police officers placed on administrative duty until the investigation is complete are Jonathon Fisher and Sheila Ann Thomas.

One of the officers involved was said to have been shot, but it was later confirmed that he had not sustained any such related injuries.
According to a Fayetteville Observer news report Tuesday evening, Fisher and Thomas scrambled for cover, yelling at Drake to stop before they fired at the car, causing it to veer into the side of an empty mobile home nearby.

The officers rushed over and opened the door to find Drake dead with a gun in his lap, police said.
