Fly-Fishing Clinics Offered at Pechmann Fishing Center
Fly-fishing clinics offered for soldiers from Fort Bragg's Wounded Warrior Transition Battalion

Fort Bragg and Fayetteville residents can experience their own "River Runs Through It" moment by taking part in fly-fishing clinics at the John E. Pechmann Fishing Education Center on Raeford Road in Fayetteville next to .
Starting Jan. 11, the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission and Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks & Recreation will offer fly-fishing clinics for soldiers from Fort Bragg’s Wounded Warrior Transition Battalion from 1 to 5 p.m. These clinics, open only to soldiers and their families, will be held on the second Wednesday of each month through March.
For others interested in the clinics, basic classes are scheduled for Jan. 21 and Feb. 4 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and are ideal for participants who have limited or no experience with fly-fishing. Instructors discuss and demonstrate proper techniques, including casting, rigging and knot-tying. Classes feature a one-hour overview on fly-fishing, followed by interactive classes and on-the-water instruction.
An advanced fly-fishing class is scheduled Feb. 18 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and targets fishermen who have previous fly-fishing experience. The class will cover more complex techniques, like advanced casting, fly-tying and equipment assembly.
Two ponds have been stocked with brook, rainbow and brown trout. Loaner rods, reels and tackle will be provided to all participants. A fee of $5 per person is due at the time of registration.
