FORK & CORK: Pizza Pies

My favorite two places lately - Brooklyn Pizza and Elizabeth's Pizza

Everybody loves induldging in some pizza from time to time - some more frequently than others. With the Super Bowl upon us pizza delivery joints will be jumping with orders on game day. Where will you go? There are many choices around Fayetteville and lately I keep going back to two places.

has two locations, one off Skibo Rd. in the Cross Creek Plaza and a larger, remodeled restaurant in Hope Mills on the Main Street. Their large pizzas can feed an entire family and their homemade pastas and sauces are aromatic and flavorful. Normally I'm too full for dessert, but their menu and Italian specialties, including several varieties of cheesecakes will bring you back for just coffee and dessert.

My other local favorite is Brooklyn Pizzeria on Bragg Blvd. They deliver, but I like going to pick it up - it's fun watching them make the oversized pies and they always have a customers. Trying to behave in the new year? Go with their chef salad filled with fresh meats and veggies with their homemade dressing and order a slice of pizza. Having the whole pie in front of you means you will definitely eat two to three pieces. Their garlic parmesean bread knots probably will ruin your diet, but they are worth it.
