Organization Statement:
The DeCA operates a worldwide commissary system that provides quality grocery products at cost to active duty military personnel and retirees, members of the Reserve and National Guard, and their families. The agency employs about 18,000 people and its annual sales exceed $5 billion.
• Assists customers by answering questions concerning prices, identification, and location of items.
• Provides assistance to customers in handling bulky or heavy items.
• Performs a variety of duties in various departments of the commissary (meat, grocery, produce, warehouse, front-end, and cash office).
• Maintains adequate stock; keeping shelves neat and orderly. Performs variety of stocking.
• Learns and utilizes safety practices and procedures in all duties.
• Performs housekeeping duties in and around the commissary.
• Operates an electronic checkout system, makes change, and verifies change fund and amount of currency received during an assigned shift and checks patrons identification cards.
HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:
Specifically you will be evaluated on the following competencies:
• Skill in customer service.
• Knowledge of store operations.
• Skill in clerical and administrative procedures
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
GS-01: No experience required.
GS-02: Applicants must possess three months of general experience OR a high school diploma or GED equivalent OR a combination of education and experience by the date a referral list is generated.
GS-03: Applicants must possess six months of general experience OR one year of education beyond the high school level OR a combination of education and experience by the date a referral list is generated.
GS-04: Applicants must possess one year of general experience OR two years of education beyond the high school level OR a combination of education and experience by the date.
