The Department of Defense Domestic Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools (DDESS) is currently accepting applications under examining authority of 10 U.S.C., Section 2164, for the above potential job opportunities in DDESS Schools.
Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) is a DoD Field Activity responsible for the oversight of two school systems, the Department of Defense Dependents Schools (DoDDS) and the Department of Defense Domestic Dependent Elementary & Secondary Schools (DDESS). DoDEA employs more than 15,000 individuals responsible for educating approximately 90,000 students in 12 foreign countries, seven states, Guam, and Puerto Rico. The mission of DoDEA is to provide a quality education from pre-kindergarten through grade twelve for the eligible minor family members of DoD military and civilian personnel on official assignments.
- KEY REQUIREMENTS
The school nurse is responsible for enhancing the educational process by modifying or removing health related barriers to learning and by promoting student's optimal level of wellness. Performs work which requires a professional knowledge of nursing. Plans, develops, and organizes long and short range goals, objectives, lesson plans, and daily class work in a manner that will ensure adequate coverage within the time frame allotted for the discipline content and skills required to meet approved course outlines and curriculum objectives of the school system. Conducts classroom instruction using modern professional teaching principles, practices and techniques appropriate to the subject matter or grade level(s) of assignment. Maintains a keen awareness of student progress. Determines the need for, develops, and follows through on individual learning programs for students who are having common learning difficulties. Exercises continuous surveillance over the educational welfare of assigned students by working with school counselors, specialists, administrators, and/or school psychologists to resolving learning and behavioral problems of students. Maintains individual and class records. Counsels students on their progress in meeting the goals and objectives established for the class and/or the individual student. Meets and deals independently with other teachers, parents, and guardians concerning student progress and/or problems. Participates in committee activities to review, evaluate, and develop educational materials which will improve the education program or the climate of' the school. May be required to supervise students during outside activities, in the lunchroom, during bus arrivals and departures, etc.
