Fort Bragg Soldier Arrested for Attempted Murder
Soldier held at New Hanover County jail in Wilmington.

A Fort Bragg soldier, Brent Thomas Maupin, 24, was arrested on attempted murder charges after Wilmington authorities say he severely beat his fiance.
Wilmington police responded to Wilmington’s Best Western, near the Historic Downtown area, early Saturday after a hotel employee heard a woman’s screams and cries for help, said Lt. Mary Green in a Wilmington news report.
Maupin was given a secured bond of $500,000, according to the New Hanover County jail.

Green said officers arrived at the Best Western on Nut Street a little after 1 a.m. Saturday. She did not have the victim’s name or condition available immediately but said the woman sustained serious injuries, including to her head and face.
Maupin was still in the room when officers arrived, Green said.

He listed the U.S. Army as his employer, according to the jail.
No further details are available but Maupin's name appeared in August on the Staff Sergeant promotion list. According to his Facebook profile he is from Centerville, Ohio and his interests include the video games Mobsters and Vendetta.
