Get Your Groove On

Huske Hardware House & Brewery downtown, better known as the 'Gastro Pub with a Groove' is offering a prize package that comes right in time. Can anyone say 2 grand - prior to Christmas?

Call it their present to you. If you can sing, or are a songwriter and can find a singer, be there! Show up this Wednesday at 7:30p.m. to sign up at the front door.
 
The rules are simple. Each Wednesday for 8 weeks (6 more weeks to go) you get a chance to perform in front of a live audience and esteemed panel of Judges. Three winners per night are chosen.
First place gets $50.00 and goes into the semi-finals. Second and third place get $25.00 each and also advance to the semi-finals.
 
Scoring is based on 'Originality & Overall Performance - Creativity and Writing - Musical Structure and Style '.

The Judges are looking for one main element, the highest scoring is with originality.
 
All semi-finalists perform the last Wednesday - 12 people total and it's here on November 30th that you sing your heart out. Only one winner is chosen. That winner receives $2,000.

Groove On! Bring it military, come sing like the soldier we know you are.
 
There's a guitar with plug available if needed. If not, come sing like a bird and fly on your own.
 
Josh Collins, owner of Huske Hardware House said he is doing this because he knows there is talent in the military community. Both he and his wife Tonia care deeply about those who serve.
 
While at Huske - a 10% discount for military, military retirees and their dependents, which Huske offers each and every day can be had. It applies to all food menu items and non-alcoholic beverages. With Military I.D. Hooha!
 
"We do this because we want to give something back to the military. Outside of the tax savings, the military receive only
on DoD installations", said Collins. "Having been a private here in Fayetteville when my pay was less than $400 a month, we want to provide a way to help folks get out and enjoy downtown.
As a Specialist (e4) and with our first son, I remember living pay check to pay check and on welfare programs to help with formula and diapers. We made it. I always knew from that point, that if I ever was in a position to help soldiers out, I would. Now, its my job.....to create jobs, provide a great value and a good time. I love what I do. Fayetteville has so many talented artists, and we want to offer the opportunity to come perform their music."

The Collins' daughter got her start here playing guitar and singing covers after her voice and guitar lessons at Hay St United Methodist when she was just 14.

Two years later, dozens of original songs, and a CD produced in Nashville, then onto the road to being a professional musician after she finishes school, if she so desires. Collins want to provide a small piece of that opportunity for all he said.
 
So come one - come all for the great venue if you are not musically inclined. It's time to get your groove on!
