Some people have wanted to be a amateur radio operator but have not because they thought they had to learn Morse code or pay a lot of money for radio equipment; not so. This Saturday morning and Saturday night, all the way straight until Sunday at 2 pm the Cape Fear Amateur Radio Society will erect their annual radio towers and etc on the lawn of Methodist University to conduct their yearly exercise of contacting local, national, and world-wide stations (contacts). Amateur Radio (Ham radio) is also ready to provide public service in event of loss of communication because of disaster, or to help with communications for community events. Come on out Saturday June 22 and Sunday June 23 until 2 pm and watch the radio operations work voice and Morse code. You may want to find out how to become a member, and also you may be given the chance to make a radio "contact" nationwide or worldwide. If you like to ham it up, you will be in great company.
