Local Woman Charged with Harboring Registered Sex Offender at Her Residence

Initial court appearances scheduled for Thursday.

Cumberland County Sheriff’s Detectives have arrested a local woman and charged her with caring for a minor in her home, where a registered sex offender resided.

58-year old Rebecca Ferrer of 3298 Reno Drive, Fayetteville told investigators she was aware that her husband, 58-year old Manuel Ferrer, had a prior conviction for a sex offense in New Jersey. 

An investigation determined between 2003 and 2012, the victim moved in and out of the home several times. The victim further alleges that Ferrer and her husband told her to hide while deputies were at the residence conducting compliance checks.

The victim claims she was abused for nearly a decade by Manuel Ferrer.

On December 4, 2012 Manuel Ferrer was arrested on 22 felony abuse charges and is being held under a $1.4 million bond.

On December 19, 2012 Rebecca Ferrer was arrested and was given a $3,000 unsecured bond and released from the Cumberland County Detention Center.
