Lt. Gen. Helmick Relinquishes Command on Tuesday

The 18th Airborne Corps and Fort Bragg commanding general will be honored in a retirement ceremony at the Main Post Flag Pole.

The XVIII Airborne Corps will host a relinquishment of command and retirement ceremony in honor of Lt. Gen. Frank G. Helmick, commanding general, XVIII Airborne Corps and Fort Bragg, at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 15.

The site for the ceremony is Fort Bragg's Main Post Flag Pole. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held in Hangar 4, Pope Field.

Helmick, who assumed command of the Corps in November 2009, served
as the deputy commanding general for Operations, United States Forces-Iraq
from January 2011 to December 2011. Helmick was instrumental in the reposturing of troops during Operation New Dawn and the transition with the
Office of Security Cooperation-Iraq.
