MagMutual Welcomes Mark Francis as Regional Vice President for North and South Carolina

MagMutual Insurance Company, the Southeast’s foremost medical malpractice insurance company, today announced the appointment of Mark Francis to the senior management team. As regional vice president for North Carolina and South Carolina, Francis will lead sales and business development for both states for the policyholder-owned mutual insurer.

Consistent with MagMutual’s key operating precepts and strategic business plan, the company has implemented a more refined focus on regional (state) leadership. Key features of this new regional focus include:

• improved ability to deliver service at the local level;
• closer alignment of Sales, Claims, Underwriting and Risk Management/Patient Safety departments;
• greater presence, knowledge and influence with respect to each state’s medical community, legislative environment, and legal and regulatory communities.

Francis brings more than 20 years of insurance experience, working almost exclusively in the healthcare arena. Most recently he was senior vice president of Carolina Healthcare Practice for the Willis Group. He holds a master’s degree from the University of Texas, and attended Indiana State University, where he received his bachelor’s degree.

With the hiring of Francis, MagMutual will be opening a new office in Charlotte in addition to its existing offices in Raleigh and Columbia.
