Memorial Day Ceremonies

Fayetteville and Fort Bragg begin holding ceremonies starting Friday

Friday, May 25, 2 p.m. 

U.S. Army Special Operations Command will hold their annual Memorial Day observance at the Memorial Wall at their command headquarters. Last year the wall was unveiled as family, friends and supporters gathered to photograph the engraved names at the ceremony as the wreaths were presented.

A parade kicks off the Memorial Day festivities in Spring Lake on North Main Street. At the end of the one-mile route at the recreation center located at Ruth & Main streets, a ceremony will be held at Veterans Park.

The N.C. Division of Veterans Affairs Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery on Murchison Road in Spring Lake will hold a Memorial Day ceremony. The guest speaker is Col. Stevenson L. Reed. Fayetteville VA Medical Center Chaplain Richard DePriter will give the invocation and benediction. 

11 a.m. 

A ceremony that can accomodate 300 people will be held at Freedom Memorial Park at Hay Street and Bragg Boulevard, bring your lawn chairs and blankets for extra seating.

4 p.m.

Hope Mills is holding their Memorial Day ceremony at the Veterans Memorial.
