Man Apprehended in Murder Investigation of Retired Fort Bragg Soldier

Person of interest sought in homicide apprehended on Saturday morning.

Cumberland County Sheriff’s Homicide Detectives are investigating the murder of a retired Fort Bragg Solider and have apprehended the person of interest who was believed to be armed and dangerous.

Charles Crampton, the person of interest was located in Onslow County early Saturday morning. He was driving the murder victim's vehicle and a weapon was found in his possession. Crampton is being held on charges of theft of motor vehicle. He will be brought back to Cumberland County later on Saturday.

40-year old Robert Herman Blizzard of 813 Wolfe Lee Drive, Fayetteville was found dead in his home on Friday, April 27, 2012.  The discovery was made after deputies were called to Blizzard’s home for a well being check according to Debbie Tanna, Public Information Officer.

Blizzard’s body will be sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Chapel Hill for autopsy to determine the cause the death.

Charles Christopher Crampton is Blizzard's 21-year old nephew.
