UPDATE: Name Released of Pope Airman Killed

43rd Airlift Group loses a senior airman to a vehicular accident.

An Airman assigned to the 43rd Airlift Group at Pope Field on Fort Bragg was killed in a car accident in Raeford, N.C., Sept. 28.

Senior Airman Jordan Godbout, 22, was an aerospace medical service
technician assigned to the 43rd Medical Squadron, 43rd Airlift Group according to the Pope Public Affairs Office.

Colonel Daniel Tulley, the 43rd Airlift Group Commander said, "Our thoughts
and prayers are with Senior Airman Godbout's friends and family. This is a
tragic loss for the Air Force and his unit. He will be greatly missed by his
43d Airlift Group family."

Senior Airman Godbout is a native of Binghamton, N.Y. The cause of the death
is under investigation.

The accident occurred early Friday morning, around 1:50a.m.

According to a Fayetteville Observer news report, the airman was driving a full-size pickup truck that was traveling north, just south of West Hoke Middle School, when it crossed the center line in a curve, said Chief F.K. Crumpler of the Raeford Police Department.
