Registered Sex Offender Arrested for Soliciting Sex Online from 15-Year-Old

Cumberland County Sheriff’s Detectives have arrested a registered sex offender, who was maintaining a social networking site.  This is a violation of his status as a registered sex offender.

Richard Arnold Ferguson, 32, whose last known address was 303 Maloney Avenue, was taken into custody by undercover agents in a park behind the main library at 300 Maiden Lane this morning.  He had arranged to meet a 15-year-old girl to engage in various sex acts.

Ferguson is charged with soliciting a child by computer to commit unlawful sex acts and use of commercial social networking site by a sex offender.  He is being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $250,000 secured bond.

On May 13, 2013 Ferguson was released from prison on similar charges.  He is scheduled to make a first court appearance on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. in the Detention Center courtroom.
