Scrub Oaks Says Goodbye to Irene With a Special Cocktail

On the north end of town on Ramsey Street, ScrubOaks was the hot-spot last night after a stressful week of preparing for Hurricane Irene.

Some revelers hold hurricane parties with the old favorite Hurricane drink that many credit from New Orleans' Pat O'Brien's bar, but the creative bartenders at ScrubOaks came up with their own version.

Appropriately named the Hurriquake, it summed up the events of the week in Fayetteville after tremors were felt on Tuesday, followed by week long preparations for Irene. 

"So we over prepared for Irene and have a garage full of bottled water and supplies - we'll keep them for next August", said Candace Workman enjoying a crab-cake and a drink at the bar while waiting for a table. "We all needed to get out and let our hair down after all the mental stress over the storm". 

The contemporary American pub was busy hosting two large parties in their banquet rooms along with their usual Saturday night crowd. Nearly every seat at the bar was filled with chattery friends out for dinner and drinks to unwind from the threat of Irene's wrath.
