Man Charged with Sex Crimes with a Minor for 9 Years
The Cumberland County man was being held at $1.4 million.

Cumberland County Sheriff’s Detectives have charged a registered sex offender with abusing a child for nearly a decade.
58-year old Manuel Ferrer of 3298 Reno Drive, Fayetteville was taken custody Tuesday, following a month-long investigation. Ferrer faces 22 felony charges including, first degree rape of a child, first degree statutory rape, sex offense in a parental role, crimes against nature and indecent liberties with a minor.
The victim told officials Ferrer began engaging in inappropriate behavior with her in 2003, which continued until February, 2012. The encounters are alleged to have occurred in Ferrer’s home.

Ferrer’s bond is set at $1.4 million. He is scheduled to make a first appearance in the Detention Center courtroom at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 5, 2012.
