Soldier facing charges in shootout appeared in court Wednesday

Army Staff Sgt. Joshua Eisenhauer charged with 30 counts makes initial court appearance on Wednesday.

Army Staff Sgt. Joshua P. Eisenhauer, the Fort Bragg soldier at the center of the four-hour long standoff two weeks ago. According to court records, he was released from the  hospital and booked into the Cumberland Country Jail on Tuesday with bail set at $825,000.

Eisenhauer is accused of opening fire on police and firefighters who were responding to to a report of a fire at his apartment Jan. 13. He faces charges of 30 counts against him to include the two police officers who incurred injuries during the incident.

Fayetteville Police officers James Tart, 41, and Timothy Trull, 44, who shot and critically injured Eisenhauer were placed on administrative duty pending the results of the investigation.
