Soldier killed in Sept. 21 shooting has been identified

Details unfold as paratrooper's name has been released

The Soldier found dead has been identified as Pfc. Chad P. Dellit, 22, of Fulton, Ill. according to the Fort Bragg Public Affairs Office.

       Dellit enlisted in September 2008 and completed Basic Combat
Training and Advanced Individual Training at Forts Jackson, S.C. and Leonard Wood, Mo., to be a geospatial engineer. Since August 2008 Dellit has served with the 20th Engineer Brigade at Fort Bragg.

       "Pfc. Chad Dellit's death is very unfortunate," said Lt. Col. John
Connor, commander, 20th Engineer Brigade (provisional). "It is with great sorrow that we learn of his death and our prayers and condolences go out to his family and friends.  Although Pfc. Dellit is no longer with us, his spirit and positive attitude will always be a part of our unit."

       Dellit's awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and Army Service Medal.
