Special Operations Soldier in Critical Condition After Police Shooting in Driveway
The incident occurred around 3 a.m. Saturday outside his Middlecreek residence off Cliffdale Road.

An unidentified 28-year old staff sergeant remained in critical condition at on Saturday afternoon after being shot by Fayetteville police in his driveway.
Upon arriving to a call out to the 6500 block of Pacific Avenue where shots were reported being fired, three Fayetteville police officers saw the soldier in his driveway.
According to a Fayetteville Observer report, the officers approached him, they told him to "show his hands," police Sgt. Gary Womble said.

"The man then raised a handgun in the direction of the officers," Womble said in a statement. "One of the three officers fired on the suspect and wounded him."
Fort Bragg spokesman, Lt. Col. Tom Bryant verified that the soldier is assigned to the U.S. Army Special Operations Command.
