Suspect Sought in Assault on Local Woman

Cumberland County Sheriff’s Detectives are searching for a suspect wanted in connection with the sexual assault of a Fayetteville woman.

According to the Public Information Officer, the victim says she accepted a ride on November 27, 2012 at around 3:12 p.m. from a heavy set black male.  They met outside a convenience store on the 500 block of Grove Street.

The victim says the suspect was driving an older model Chevrolet Caprice Classic, dull grey in color.  He drove her to a secluded location in the Downing Road and Highway 24, area where the assault took place.

The victim says she managed to get away after stabbing the suspect several times, leaving wounds on his face and abdomen.
