Fayetteville Woman Sought on Attempted Fraud Charges
Michelle Dortch, 35, is accused of trying to use a stolen credit card.

Cumberland County Sheriff’s detectives have issued warrants for the arrest of a Fayetteville woman, for attempting to use another person’s credit card that her son had allegedly stolen.
Investigators say 35-year old Michelle Dortch of 2301 Molly Court took the card on March 20, 2012 and tried to make purchases at two different locations. The first was a grocery store chain where Dortch attempted to buy 158 dollars and 90 cents in miscellaneous groceries. She then attempted to make a 27 dollar and 65 cent purchase at a fast food restaurant. The card was declined at both locations, as the victim of the theft had reported the card missing.
Later, Dortch called the victim claiming to be a good Samaritan and told the victim she had found her wallet in a grocery store parking lot. Before meeting with Dortch, Dortch went to another grocery store chain and attempted to make purchases with the stolen credit card. The victim identified Dortch via surveillance video according to Debbie Tanna, Cumberland County Public Information Officer.
Warrants have been issued for Dortch’s arrest on two counts of attempting to obtain property by false pretenses.
She is described as a black female, five feet six inches tall. Dortch has brown eyes and black shoulder length hair with highlighted extensions along the front portion of her face.
Anyone with information concerning Dortch’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office at (910) 323-1500.
