• Narcan vending machines placed across North Carolina county to combat overdose rate (cbs17.com) — Gaston County has installed three free Narcan vending machines stocked with overdose-reversal medication, test strips, and hygiene supplies to fight its persistently high overdose rate. Funded by long-term opioid settlement money, the machines are already seeing heavy use, and county partners hope easier access will push more residents toward detox and treatment services. Officials say overdoses remain high locally despite recent progress.
