Community forces unite to make major improvements to Greensboro's Fisher Park (myfox8.com) — Fisher Park in Greensboro is beginning a major renovation that will add new entryways, landscaping, sculptures, elevated gathering spaces, and furnishings while respecting the historic district. Backed by a public-private partnership between Greensboro Parks and Recreation and The Contemporary Foundation, construction has already started and will continue into 2027, aiming to attract more residents and greenway users to the upgraded park.
   

2. Together for Birds! A Project Learning Tree K-5 Workshop (ncsu.edu) — K-5 educators in Greensboro can spend November 14 exploring bird-focused Project Learning Tree activities at the Kathleen Clay Edwards Family Branch Library, with materials provided free. The $20 workshop runs all day, offers adaptations for grades 3–5, and includes support for those needing fee assistance or disability accommodations. Registration closes November 6.
   

3. Woods of Terror plans for permanent memorial to honor beloved family member (myfox8.com) — Woods of Terror in Greensboro is creating a permanent memorial on its grounds to honor longtime employee Laurie Lynn Casola, who died after a cardiac event at the attraction on September 11. Visitors will be able to sign a memorial banner and leave flowers or small tributes at a dedicated spot near the Wolf photo area.
   

4. Former Randolph County deputy charged with second degree rape (wfmynews2.com) — Greensboro police have arrested former Randolph County deputy Brandon Yair Zagada Zuniga on a charge of second-degree forcible rape tied to an April incident reported to have occurred in Greensboro. The 30-year-old ex-deputy, who left the sheriff's office in May, is being held without bond at the Guilford County Detention Center and is scheduled for a court appearance.
   

5. Ethno USA celebrates folk music from around the world in Greensboro (myfox8.com) — Young musicians from 20 cultures are in Greensboro this week with Ethno USA, rehearsing to perform together as "Ethnorchestra" during the NC Folk Fest. They're blending Brazilian, Greek, Native American and other traditions in peer-led sessions, showing how shared music can bridge cultures and bring a global sound to local stages and parks.
