Lowe Jr. voted no on SB 69 to change Hendersonville's public enterprise management (winstonsalemtimes.com) — State lawmakers recently rejected SB 69, a bill that would have reshaped how the City of Hendersonville manages its public enterprises, from utility funds to services outside city limits. The measure aimed to tighten financial separation of enterprise funds and bar most transfers, while clarifying that services couldn’t be withheld during annexation, but it failed 0–37 in the Senate.
   

• County fast approaches deadline to finalize farmland preservation measure (blueridgenow.com) — Henderson County leaders in Hendersonville are racing to finalize a November bond measure that could raise $25 million to permanently preserve local farmland amid rising development pressure. If approved, the general obligation bond may add about 1 cent per $100 in property value, funding development-rights purchases, surveys, and easements as an alternative to now-limited zoning tools.
   

• Sell leading North Henderson through first preseason as head coach (wlos.com) — North Henderson High’s football team in Hendersonville is heading into preseason under new head coach Jake Sell, a longtime assistant who already knows many of his players. He’s emphasizing a competitive, positive culture built around returning star running back Parker Willis and a strong offensive line as the Knights prepare for a season-opening trip to face former coach Jim Beatty’s Enka squad.
