2 Juveniles Arrested For Armed Robbery In Huntersville
The juveniles — one of whom was wearing a monitoring device — were arrested after they pulled a gun to steal cigarillos at a gas station.
HUNTERSVILLE, NC — Two juveniles — one of whom was wearing an electronic monitoring device — were arrested in Huntersville Sunday after they pulled a gun to steal cigarillos from a Gilead Road gas station, according to police.
The incident occurred shortly before 1 a.m. Dec. 22 at Fast Phil’s Gas Station, located at 502 Gilead Road.
According to Huntersville Police Department, the 15-year-old and 16-year-old entered the store and attempted to buy the cigarillos. When the store clerk asked for identification, one of the suspects pulled out a gun, HPD said.

“The clerk gave the suspect the pack of cigarillos and, upon exiting the store, the suspect fired one round into the ceiling of the gas station,” HPD said.
The pair left the scene in a silver Cherolet Suburban, which a witness followed and notified authorities of its location. Officers stopped the vehilce at Gilead Road and Sherwood Road, and the two juveniles were taken into custody without incident.

Later, police discovered that an HPD officer had attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle a little more than an hour before the incident at the gas station, however the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed and the officers did not pursue.
At the time of the arrest, one of the juveniles was wearing an electronic monitoring device for an armed robbery charge in Charlotte, HPD said.
Both were transported to a juvenile detention center and were charged with assault by pointing a gun; possession of a controlled substance armed robbery; possession of a concealed weapon; injury to real property; discharging a firearm in an occupied property; conspiracy to commit armed robbery and resist/delay/obstruct an officer.
