5 Fun Things To Do This Weekend Around Lake Norman: Oct. 6 - Oct. 9

Drumming on the green, wiener dog race and a carnival for the cure are all among the fun things to do in Lake Norman this weekend.

HUNTERSVILLE, NC — Autumn is in full swing this weekend in the Lake Norman region, as area pumpkin patches and farms ramp up seasonal activities. This weekend is also all about racing -- from NASCAR’s homecoming with the Bank of America 500 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway to wiener dog races in downtown Mooresville.

Sunshine and clear skies are on tap for Friday, but that will change Saturday when clouds move into the region. Sunday heavy rains and gusty winds from Nate will move into the Queen City region, the National Weather Service said in a hazardous weather outlook. Heavy rains stay in the forecast through Monday, NWS said.
