An ugly sweater party, boats decked out in holiday lights and the Nutcracker are all among the fun things to do this weekend.

HUNTERSVILLE, NC -- Holiday shopping and partying is at the top of most lists this weekend. But if you’re looking for something to do in the Lake Norman area this weekend, we’ve got a list of highlights for you. An ugly sweater party, boats decked out in holiday lights and the Nutcracker are just some of the fun things going on around town this weekend.

Weatherwise, there will be sunshine aplenty in the forecast for Friday and Saturday, but the chance for rain increases by Sunday morning. Highs through the weekend will top out in the mid-50s, with lows staying in the low 30s. You can read more about the weekend forecast here.

  • Horse-Drawn Wagon Rides -- Christmas comes to Downtown Mooresville, with Santa visits, horse-drawn wagon rides, hot cocoa, and more. Wagons load and unload at Mooresville Christian Mission, 266 N. Broad Street. Friday, Dec. 15, 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.
  • Lake Norman Christmas Light Boat Parade -- Bring your chair and hot chocolate to Blythe Landing, Ramsey Creek and Jetton Parks in Cornelius to see boats decked out in festive holiday lights. Saturday, Dec. 16, 4:30 p.m. - 7 p.m.
  • 2017 Annual Ugly Christmas Sweater Party -- The Kilted Buffalo, 8625 Townley Rd., Huntersville. Saturday, Dec. 16. 10 p.m. - 2 a.m.
  • Santa Brunch Cruise -- Enjoy a breakfast buffet, a Lake Norman Cruise and pictures with Santa. Lake of the Lake, 1459 River Highway, Mooresville. Sunday, Dec. 17, 12:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.
  • The Nutcracker at Davidson College -- Dance Davidson presents The Nutcracker, Duke Family Performance Hall, Davidson College, 207 Faculty Drive, Davidson. Sunday, Dec. 17, 2 p.m - 4 p.m.
