5 Fun Things To Do This Weekend In Huntersville: Sept. 15-17

Ramblin' Rose, sunset kayaking and Quidditch Day at Rural Hill are among the fun things planned for this weekend in Huntersville.

HUNTERSVILLE, NC — The first day of autumn is officially next week, and it’s going to be a great weekend to get outside. Be sure to check out these fun events on tap for the weekend.

After a week of intense weather, the Charlotte metro area has a weekend reprieve ahead with sunny skies and mild temperatures, according to the National Weather Service. While there’s a chance for isolated showers Thursday evening before 11 p.m., the lead in to the weekend will be most sunny. Highs over the weekend will be in the low 80s with lows in the 60s.

Here is Huntersville Patch’s list of five fun things to do this weekend:

  • Sunset Kayaking on Mountain Island Lake: Explore coves on Mountain Island Lake in a two hour float at Latta Plantation Nature Center, 6211 Sample Rd., Huntersville. Friday, Sept. 15, 5:45 p.m. - 7:45 p.m.
  • Quidditch Day at the Amazing Maize Maze: Calling all Harry Potter fans! Charlotte Quidditch at UNCC will spar with UNCG Quidditch at Rural Hill at this day-long event that will also include venders. Rural Hill, 4431 Neck Rd., Huntersville. Saturday, Sept. 16, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • Ramblin’ Rose Charlotte: Support Girls on the Run and Tri It For Life with this annual triathlon. Huntersville Family Fitness & Aquatic Facility, 11725 Verhoeff Dr., Huntersville. Sunday, Sept. 17, 8 a.m. to noon.
  • Brahms and Dvorak Concert Series: Join 89.9 WDAV for an afternoon of classical music in Tyler-Tallman Hall at Davidson College. Sunday, Sept. 17, 3 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
  • Tawba Walk Arts & Music Festival: Live music, food trucks and more than 80 artists and craftsmen will descend on Cornelius Saturday, Sept. 16, 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.
