90-Year-Old Man Dies After Being Hit By SUV In Parking Lot

A 90-year-old man struck by an SUV Monday while walking across a grocery store parking lot in north Charlotte has died, police say.

CHARLOTTE, NC -- A 90-year-old man struck by a sport utility vehicle while he walked across a grocery store parking lot in north Charlotte Monday afternoon has died from his injuries, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.

Andrew Brown Harrington was hit by a Toyota Highlander around 1 p.m. Dec. 11 in the Bi-Lo Shopping Center located at 2924 Mt. Holly-Huntersville Road. He was transported to Carolinas Medical Center-Main with serious injuries, and was pronounced dead Dec. 12 afternoon.

The driver of the Toyota was identified as Priscilla Norman Moretz, who was not injured in the accident.

CMPD has launched an investigation into the incident and said speed and alcohol are not contributing factors in the crash.
