Active Shooter Training Date Set In Huntersville

Huntersville police are teaming with Novant Health to train the public on traumatic first aid. Here's what you need to know to register.

HUNTERSVILLE, NC — In the wake of the Florida school shooting, national attention remains transfixed on the issue of gun violence prevention. Local law enforcement officials in Huntersville are teaming up with medical professionals to help educate the public about what are the best things to do in active shooter situations, including first aid.

The Active Shooter Awareness Training and Stop the Bleed program will be held April 14, from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. at the Huntersville Police Department. The training, conducted in partnership with Novant Health, is free for the public, but does require registration.

“The focus of this training will be educating citizens in proper techniques to stop traumatic bleeding, as well as the proper response in the event of an active shooter situation” HPD said in a statement.
