‘A Bittersweet Day’: Huntersville Fire Sells Ladder Truck
Huntersville Fire officially sold its ladder truck, "Attic Ladder," which had been in service for two decades.

HUNTERSVILLE, NC — Huntersville Fire’s Ladder 4 rolled out its bay of Station 4 Thursday afternoon for the last time, but there were no sirens blaring or lights flashing. The ladder truck was sold recently to Central Alexander Fire Department in Taylorsville, North Carolina.
HFD announced March 1 that the ladder truck called “Attic Ladder,” which was dispatched to its last fire earlier that week, had been sold. “She truly served the #Ville well,” HFD tweeted. “We have, effective today, taken her out of service.”
HFD put the 1999 Spartan Gladiator up for sale in February, asking $150,000 for the fire truck boasting a mileage of 62,000 miles. Perhaps most notable among the list of accessories and equipment that came with the vehicle was the number of ladders: a 35-foot ladder, a 28-foot tall ladder, two 16-foot ladders, a 14-foot folding attic ladder a 10-foot folding attic ladder and a 13-foot A-frame ladder.
