Body Of Missing Teen Who Fell Out Of Family’s Boat Found In Lake

HUNTERSVILLE, NC — Searchers located the body of a teenage boy who went missing on Mountain Island Lake Sunday afternoon after he fell out of his family’s boat while it was anchored, according to authorities.

He was not wearing a life jacket at the time of the incident, according to reports.

Rescue teams were called to the Mountain Island Lake at Latta Plantation in Huntersville around 3 p.m. Sunday, according to Huntersville Fire Department, who also called in fire departments from Charlotte, Long Creek and the Cook’s Community to aid in the search.

The rescue operation included a helicopter and a dive team, WSOC reported.

About two hours later, the boy’s body was located not far from where he fell out of the boat, HFD said.
