HUNTERSVILLE, NC — A Huntersville high school was placed on lockdown midday Wednesday after a crash involving a stolen vehicle occurred in front of the school, prompting police activity and a search for suspects.

Hopewell High School, which is located at 11530 Beatties Ford Road, was placed on lockdown after police responded to a vehicle crash in the area that involved a stolen vehicle, a spokesperson for Huntersville Police Department told Patch.

“There was a vehicle collision and the suspects ran from the vehicle, Officer Odette Saglimbeni said. The vehicle was reported stolen in Charlotte, she said. “Officers pursued on foot and two suspects were apprehended, multiple still outstanding."

The lockdown was lifted around 1 p.m. and police said four juveniles were in custody. Police were still searching for a fifth identified juvenile who they say was involved in the incident.
