Charlotte-Area Used Car Prices Among The Cheapest In North Carolina

When looking for the cheapest used cars in North Carolina, the best options may be closer than you think, according to Autolist.

HUNTERSVILLE, NC -- Mecklenburg County has some of the cheapest cars in North Carolina, according to an affordability ranking by Autolist.com. Huntersville has the least expensive used cars in the state, followed by Charlotte, according to the study.

In comparison to buying used cars elsewhere in the U.S., however, North Carolina is far from the cheapest state, according to Autolist. It ranks No. 26 on the list of affordable states in the U.S., with used car prices about $225 more expensive than other states.

The findings were a result of analyzing over 4.5 billion unique data points on used vehicles nationwide, which shows significant price differences on local and national levels. It found the cheapest places to buy cars and which cars are cheaper to buy. Here are the numbers:

  2. Charlotte -- $744 below state average
  3. Greensboro -- $444 below state average
  4. Raleigh -- $324 below state average
  5. Cary -- $270 below state average

Most Affordable Counties To Buy Used Cars In North Carolina:

  1. Edgecombe County -- $1,175 below state average
  2. Lincoln County -- $826 below state average
  3. Mecklenburg County -- $811 below state average
  4. Pender County -- $637 below state average
  5. Union County -- $412 below state average
