Duke Energy Plans Huntersville Nuclear Siren Test Wednesday

If you hear a siren Wednesday in Huntersville, chances are it's just a test.

HUNTERSVILLE, NC -- If you hear a loud piercing screech of Duke Energy nuclear sirens Wednesday in Huntersville, do not be alarmed. Duke Energy is conducting a quarterly test of the nuclear sirens to make sure they’re operating properly.

The test will begin Wednesday, Oct. 11 at 11:50 a.m. and will last a few minutes, according to the Huntersville Fire Department.

If you hear sirens but aren’t sure if it’s just a test, authorities suggest you tune into local radio stations FM 107.9, WLNK Charlotte, FM 106.5, WEND Salisbury, or NOAA Weather Radio, or television stations for instructions on what to do.
