Arrest Made After Motorcyclist Killed In Huntersville Crash
McCoy Road in Huntersville shut down to traffic Wednesday morning after a fatal accident involving an SUV and a motorcycle.

HUNTERSVILLE, NC —A Huntersville woman has been arrested and faces charges for misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and no drivers license after an early morning crash claimed the life of a motorcyclist Wednesday.
Elizabeth Labastide Hernandez, 43, was identified by Huntersville Police Department as the driver behind the wheel of a 2008 GMC sport utility vehicle that turned into the path of the 2006 Suzuki motorcycle traveling southbound on McCoy Road shortly before 6 a.m. June 26. Hernandez was turning left from McIlwaine Road to northbound McCoy Roy at the time of the crash.
Police identified the motorcyclist as Vincent Aufiero, 57, of Huntersville. He was transported with life threatening injuries to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Hernandez, who was the only person in the GMC, was also taken to the hospital, with non life-threatening injuries. She was arrested and charged upon her release.
