HUNTERSVILLE, NC -- Huntersville Police officers responding to a call for help at Presbyterian Hospital Sunday night shot and killed a man who they say had a gun and fired several shots inside the facility.

The incident occurred just before midnight Sept. 10 at the medical facility located at 10030 Gilead Road. When officers responded to the scene, hospital staff and witnesses directed them to the area where he was last seen and they found the male suspect still holding the weapon.

“An encounter ensued, during which, the officers, felt threatened by the man’s actions and fired several rounds striking him,” HPD said in a statement Monday morning. “The man involved was pronounced deceased at the scene.”
