Hopewell High Student Arrested With Gun At School: Report

A 17-year-old student was arrested for bringing a gun to Hopewell High School in Huntersville Wednesday, according to reports.

HUNTERSVILLE, NC — A 17-year-old student was arrested at Hopewell High School Wednesday after authorities found he had brought a weapon onto the campus of the Huntersville school, according to reports.

The student, identified as Michael Nakiah Spates, was arrested after authorities received a tip, according to WSOC.

In a message to parents, school officials said that Spates was searched without incident, which is when the gun was found. He was arrested by Huntersville Police Department and also faces consequences through the school system.
