Huntersville Fire Buys ‘Jaws Of Life’ With Firehouse Subs Grant
HFD is using the money to purchase a new "jaws of life" tool for it's new Engine 4, which is assigned to its new station

HUNTERSVILLE, NC — Huntersville Fire Department has a new “Jaws of Life” tool for its new fire truck thanks to a grant from Firehouse Subs, the department said Thursday.
Firehouse Subs awarded HFD a $19,460 grant for the purchase of a Hurst eDraulic extrication tool through Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation Grant. The fire department collaborated with local Firehouse Subs franchise owner Justin Scotto when applying for the grant.
The new gear has been installed on HFD’s Engine 4, which is assigned to the town’s new fire station that opened last month at 8826 McIlwaine Road in southwest Huntersville.

“These new tools will match the extrication equipment that we currently have at our
other three fire stations in town,” and will improve life saving capabilities, HFD said.
The foundation provides funding for life-saving equipment and educational opportunities to first-responded and public safety organizations. It has provided $33 million in grants throughout the U.S. since 2005, including $1.1 million in North Carolina.
