HUNTERSVILLE, NC — Police officers in Huntersville went above and beyond the call of duty for a member of the animal kingdom over the weekend, nabbing a wandering farm animal after it crossed Statesville Road and ended up in the Lowe’s parking lot.

It was an act of heroics that proved that, should you need it, HPD will do their best to get your goat.

HPD was alerted to the runaway billy goat over the weekend when someone called in to report it crossing busy Statesville Road near Sam Furr Road, it said on Facebook.

“On arrival, Officers encountered a Billy Goat in the Lowe's parking lot,” HPD said. “Officers were able to corral the goat so the owner could gain control.”

It was one police call that has proven popular in the community. The posted photo on Facebook has 47 comments and counting.
