Huntersville Police Warn Against Hurricane Cleanup Scams
The aftermath of Hurricane Florence damage will potentially bring out scammers. Here are some tips from Huntersville police.

HUNTERSVILLE, NC — Hurricane Florence has made landfall along the coast of North Carolina, and is on track to dump about a foot of rain in the Charlotte-metro region by early next week, according to forecasters. The aftermath of hurricane damage, however, could bring out potential scammers seeking to take advantage, Huntersville Police Department warned Friday morning.
“With the approaching rain and wind, you can expect downed trees and resulting damage. After these major storms pass, some individuals will attempt to capitalize on those impacted by offering their services for tree cleanup, restoration, roofing etc,” Huntersville Police Department said Friday.

- ask for proof of license and insurance and call to verify that insurance
- never pay full amount up front
- call your insurance company when in doubt.
