Huntersville Police Warn Residents After Rash Of Car Thefts
Five vehicles were stolen and five broken into in Huntersville over the weekend, say police, who are urging residents to do these things.
HUNTERSVILLE, NC — Lock up your car. That’s a simple word of advice being given by Huntersville Police Department after a rash of vehicle break ins and thefts in town over the weekend.
According to HPD, five vehicles were stolen and five were broken into during the first weekend in September.
HPD is now warning residents do the following:

- Remove the valet key from your glove box. “For some car models, not all, there is a valet key,” HPD said in a statement. “If your car does have one, please do your best to locate that key. While it won't open your glove box or trunk, it will unlock your car doors and start it.
- Don’t leave valuables in plain sight.
- And finally, don’t leave cars unlocked.
“We also had multiple car break-ins over the weekend, most of which were unlocked cars or cars with valuable items in plain sight," HPD said. "While we are certainly not blaming the victims in these cases, we all need to do our part to stop these break-ins.”
