HUNTERSVILLE, NC -- A fire broke out in Target in Huntersville Monday evening, and now fire investigators believe it might have been intentionally set. Huntersville fire fighters from two stations responded May 22 to the Sam Furr Road store to battle a fire that prompted the store and some nearby businesses to evacuate. Paramedics on the scene treated some customers for smoke inhalation in the parking lot, while fire crews worked to contain the blaze, fire officials said Monday evening.
The store suffered heavy smoke damage and will be closed until further notice.
Fire investigators believe the fire found on the paper products aisle may have been intentionally set and now consider the store a crime scene, according to WSOC. The fire took 36 firefighters about 45 minutes to put out.
